Meet Keith

Keith has been full of personality, curiosity and enthusiasm from the day he came home. As a young dog, he wanted to investigate absolutely everything, so I quickly learned that keeping his clever mind busy was just as important as physical exercise.

He loves playing fetch, going for walks, training, searching for hidden treats and working things out through puzzle games. His natural ability to use his nose is particularly impressive — if something is hidden, Keith is usually determined to find it.

Alongside all that energy is a wonderfully gentle and affectionate side. Keith is very social with the girls and has a naturally respectful manner around them. He doesn’t need to push himself into their space and is happy to give another dog time to become comfortable with him.

One of my favourite things about Keith is the way he interacts with puppies. He is remarkably tolerant and gentle with them and will happily spend time outside amongst the youngsters while their mum has a break. Watching such an energetic male dog adjust himself so carefully around tiny puppies says a lot about his temperament.

Keith brings a lovely combination of enthusiasm, intelligence, affection and gentleness to our family — and many of those qualities are exactly what I hope to see coming through in his puppies.

Keith’s Health Testing

Keith’s health is monitored as part of the BetterCavs breeding programme, with testing selected for conditions relevant to Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

• DNA tested: Clear for CKCSID and Episodic Falling Syndrome (EF)

• Heart: Regularly checked as part of his ongoing health monitoring

• Eyes: Included in our ongoing health screening program

• General health: Veterinary care and monitoring maintained throughout his breeding life

Health testing is only one part of my breeding decisions. Temperament, structure, family history, overall wellbeing and the suitability of each individual pairing are also considered when planning a litter.
