As an ethical breeder, I spend a considerable amount of time on early development using the Puppy Culture Programme. This comprehensive system takes our puppies through 51 individual lessons, providing a week-by-week roadmap to raise emotionally resilient, confident, and well-adjusted dogs from birth through 12 weeks of age.
Key Components of the Program
- Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS): Short, specific physical handling exercises done from days 3 to 16 of life to boost heart health and stress tolerance.
- Critical Socialization: Safe, positive exposures to novel sights, sounds, and surfaces during the peak developmental window.
- Problem-Solving Exercises: Age-appropriate challenges like “barrier puzzles” to build frustration tolerance and learning skills.
- Communication Trinity: Teaching a clear marker signal, encouraging offered behaviors, and teaching “manding” (asking politely instead of demanding).
