We feel incredibly blessed to be the proud owners of a Better Cavs pup. Julie is a wonderful breeder who pours her heart and soul into every pup, every day!! Not only them, but the owners to be, answering the many questions and equipping them for what lies ahead. Our Better Cavs pooch arrived so confident, curious, playful, calm, friendly, smart, content and settled. Her transition was seamless and I know much of that is down to the care shown and mahi to prepare her for her new home. So thank you, thank you Julie. I write this testimonial as I sit in my chair with the newest member of my family, my 11 week old King Charles Cavalier puppy Lula, sleeping in one of my arms. She is beautiful, comforting and exceptionally well behaved. The best therapy dog I have had out of 4 bigger dogs I have been lucky enough to have in my lifetime.

I can attest to the training (puppy culture) that Julie Rodgers from Better Cavs has given this little one for the first 10 weeks of her life. She is ready and happy to play either with me or just by herself, or snuggle in my arms for unlimited amounts of time.

Julie is super friendly and goes beyond her role of exceptional breeder to keep you informed and update or respond to a call for help. She is honest and truly cares about each and everyone of her dogs and puppies and it shows by her treatment of them and of you.

My last experience with a breeder was less than ideal but Julie has proven to me that there are breeders out there that do go the distance.

We recently purchased a purebred Cavalier King Charles puppy from Julie. Julie provided us with the puppy’s medical information and family history prior to purchase, along with a lot of lovely photos of him playing with his siblings. As Julie also owns the breeding mum and dad, we were able to learn a lot about their natures and behaviours.

We visited Julie twice to meet our puppy, Rocco, and found that him and his siblings were all cared for as family pets and exposed to other adults, children and the normal comings and goings of a busy household from birth.

Since purchasing Rocco, Julie has been in touch numerous times to check in and offered advice on everything from puppy nutrition to shampoo brands. We’ve found her experience with this breed and her genuine care for her dogs to be excellent.

I’d recommend Julie as a breeder as we have had such a positive experience with our puppy who is now thriving at six months old. When we adopted Rocco, he was virtually toilet trained and crate trained, making his transition into our home much easier. Since becoming part of our family, Rocco has stolen all of our hearts and proven to be a lovely companion for us all.

What a fabulous breeder. 100% would deal with this breeder again. This puppy was flown to the South Island with food and his personal book and belongings. The transfer was fast and safe for the puppy. Excellent communication before during and after the purchase. The puppy is well trained to lead. Excellent manners and he is toilet trained. I made contact via email with Julie in April of 2024. With in a few days, I received a lovely email from Julie, with lots of information about her and her dogs and the story behind her kennels. I felt like Julie “got me “and we were definitely on the same page regards to dogs /puppies, being much loved members of the household. When Julie said she brought the pups up through Puppy Culture I was over joyed, knowing, if I was lucky enough to go on the list of prospective puppy parents, I would receive a pup who had been well looked after and well trained and was used to a routine. Julie kept me up to date with progress once the pregnancy was confirmed and once the pups were born. I live in Auckland so I made the trip down to New Plymouth when the pups were 6 weeks old. We spent all morning with them and took them through some training routines and had loads of cuddle time. By the time I went to collect Donny at 10 weeks old he knew his name, he did not jump up, he sat in front of me to get my attention, and to this day he still does that. He was crate trained and only woke once a night for a wee stop, for about three weeks, he has slept through the night ever since. He was pretty much toilet trained, he certainly knew not to “go” in his crate. Julie obviously loves and cares for each and every dog /pup in her home and gets to know the pups really well. It was lovely to bring home a beautiful well trained, calm , self-reliant little boy to join our empty nester home. He is a delight and Julie and I are still in contact with photos and messages and I hope to be still sending them and getting messages from her in years to come.
